This small, eco-friendly hotel beside a spectacular beach puts the focus firmly on luxury. It is 100% solar powered and plastic-free and is a magical mix of cool Swiss style and a great African experience.
Most of the 10 spacious and modern rooms have a view across sandy Bijilo Beach to the sea and feature an extra-long bed, flat-screen satellite TV, minibar, fridge, desk, safe, fan and a terrace.
The Swiss Boutique Hotel, which also has full wheelchair access, is set in its own private gardens and prides itself on having friendly and co-operative staff who are determined to live up to its four-star rating.
Visitors have praised the hotel’s international and Gambian cuisine which can be enjoyed in the restaurant or on the terrace. There is a pool with sunbeds and sunshades a pool bar, beach bar and shady terrace. Free wifi is available throughout the hotel.
Serekunda, Gambia’s largest town, is famous for its daily market which offers a vast array of local goods and crafts. Other attractions in the area include a monkey sanctuary in a national park, crocodile pool and botanical gardens.
But no matter what they’ve been doing during the day, guests enjoy being lulled to sleep by the sound of the Atlantic Ocean breaking on the beach just a few metres away from their room.
